Intergovernmental Affairs Committee
"A Unified Regional Voice"
SPC members established the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee (IGA) to advance regionalism in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The
Committee’s function is to continuously improve the region’s process and position in obtaining needed resources from state and federal funding sources; to develop funding goals and reach consensus on priority projects that implement the regional plan; to coordinate strategies to maximize impact; and, through its membership, to present Southwestern Pennsylvania’s official priority funding requests to the state legislators and congressional delegation via a single, unified voice.
2009 Activities
In 2009, the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee reevaluated the process used to develop the Regional Priority Project Book in an effort to enhance its importance and efficacy. SPC Members selected the highest priority projects in the categories of Aviation, Broadband, Community Development, Economic Development, Highway/Bridge, Transit and Water/Sewer for inclusion in the FY 2011 Regional Priority Project Book.
