The completed installation of a 56-panel photovoltaic solar panel array on the roof of the Regional Enterprise Tower (RET) marks the completion of the RET Conservation and Sustainability Project, an innovative conservation retrofit of a historic Pittsburgh skyscraper. The RET is the first high-rise building in downtown Pittsburgh to install this type of high yield photovoltaic solar panels.

The array will generate 10kW of solar power—enough to power all the lights on the 31st Floor, plus an additional 2,500 watts!

Since Pittsburgh is not exactly the sunniest place on earth, the RET will use specific crystalline-type solar panels that have the highest efficiency rating for their type on the market. Even a cloudy day can still provide enough diffuse light for the panels to produce electricity!

The Regional Enterprise Tower Conservation and Sustainability Project represents SPC’s commitment to the mission and sustainability of the building. The project signifies that the Regional Enterprise Tower is more than just a place to work, it’s an active progressive asset in a progressive community. As individual organizations in the building, we are part of the larger community that is the Regional Enterprise Tower and we are part of the regional community, the national community, and the global community. The project also illustrates our commitment to enhancing the sustainability of our shared community.
