Regional Transit Vision
Gasoline prices are reaching new highs, and regions across America are facing a transportation funding crisis. Our roads, bridges, and transit systems are forced to do more with less, and regions everywhere are looking for new and innovative ways to make the most of what few precious public resources we have. As it becomes increasingly important to consider the cost of fuel in all aspects of transportation and the economy, it is increasingly important to consider how our region’s transportation investments can be made more efficient.
This report, A Regional Strategic Vision for Public Transportation Serving Southwestern Pennsylvania, outlines an ambitious vision for the future of transit in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The Transit Vision identifies transit options – such as rapid transit, fixed-route bus services and other services and amenities – that would support growth and connect people to recreation, economic and employment centers throughout the 10-county region.
