Community Outreach

Public input guided this study. An extensive community outreach program was conducted to insure that the study reflected the input of community groups, major employers, local businesses, municipal governments, senior citizens, churches, schools and regional transit agencies. The study team met with the following government, agency and community groups:

Additionally, the project team distributed a survey and information sheet to approximately 200 users of the Warrendale and Blade Runners' park-n-ride facilities.

Community Open House

There were (2) community open houses during the course of the Study:

Cranberry Township hosted a second community open house to present preliminary transit service concepts to the public and to gather comments. This public open house included two sessions designed to make it more convenient for citizens to participate. Visitors were welcomed on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building at 2525 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.

Public officials from Cranberry Township, Butler County, Economy Borough, Harmony Borough, Marshall Township, Valencia Borough, Zelienople Borough, representatives from PA State Senator Orie's office and Congresswoman Melissa Hart's office, and the general public attended. In total, 33 people attended the open houses.

Steering Committee and Regional Stakeholders Group

A Study Steering Committee has been formed to provide guidance to the consulting team and to make decisions at key points in the study. Members include representatives from:

A group of Regional Stakeholders has been assembled to provide input to the Steering Committee and to support the study team on technical and community issues. Members of this group include organizations and individuals with a keen interest in the development of transit for the Cranberry area:

The Steering Committee and Regional Stakeholders meet jointly every 6 - 8 weeks during the life of the study to review progress to date and provide guidance to the consultant team as the Study progresses. Meetings are held at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building.
