Nancy Hirsch
Transportation Planner III - Operations and Safety
Nancy Hirsch joined the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission in 2024. As Transportation Planner 3 – Operations and Safety, Nancy is responsible for Complete Streets and Vision Zero analysis, spatial and network analysis, and curbside management.
In her role, she is focused on improving access to basic transportation services, promoting environmental stewardship, , engaging with the public and educating the community on active transportation. Nancy brings a diverse professional background to our organization, with experience in agriculture and community development from her time in the Peace Corps Madagascar as part of the Master’s International program.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Northeastern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago. Certified in Geospatial Analysis and Visualization (GSAV), she is dedicated to collaborating with local residents and leaders to foster more accessible, connected, and sustainable communities.
An avid cyclist, Nancy participated in RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa), riding across Iowa and gaining a deep appreciation for the diverse voices and ideas that shape communities—a perspective she continues to apply in her work at our organization.
